The challenging situation across Europe and Finland has also put the boating industry on alert, prompting it to consider the future from many different perspectives.
Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the significant general rise in interest rates, inflation, the sharp increase in electricity prices and other factors have all contributed to a considerable rise in the cost of living over the past few months.
Demand and sales of boats were subdued towards the end of 2022.
However, 2023 has got off to a positive start. Both demand and supply have clearly recovered after a brief downturn, which can be seen in the significant increase in enquiries, offers and the number of boats available.
The Boot Düsseldorf boat show attracted a huge number of visitors. The overall atmosphere was extremely positive, and according to several industry professionals we spoke with during the event, sales were also strong. We firmly believe that this positive momentum will continue at the upcoming Vene 23 Båt Boat Show in Helsinki from 10 to 19 February 2023!
For new boats, the situation remains unchanged: delivery times are extremely long, with many manufacturers only able to deliver boats ordered now next year or even the year after. We believe this will continue to support the value of relatively new, high-quality boats from established brands, while demand is expected to remain strong throughout the year.
Careful maintenance of a boat, keeping all relevant paperwork and documentation, and ensuring proper winter storage and servicing become increasingly important when a potential buyer is looking for the right pre-owned boat.
